Business Days Calculator

Enter a start and end date to count the weekdays (Mon–Fri) between them, both dates included.

Inputs
Weekdays
22 days
Total days
31 days
Weekend days
9 days
Counts Saturdays and Sundays as weekends only — public holidays are not reflected, so treat the result as a calendar-based estimate, not an official working-day count.

How business days are counted

Every day from the start date to the end date is checked, inclusive of both endpoints. Saturdays and Sundays are counted as weekend days; every other day is a weekday (business day).

weekdays = total days − weekend days
  • total days — every date from start to end, both included
  • weekend days — the Saturdays and Sundays within that range

More detail

Why both dates count

The range is inclusive: if the start date is a Monday and the end date is that same Monday, the result is 1 total day and 1 weekday, not 0. Deadlines and shipping estimates usually work the same way — the day you start counts.

Tip. To estimate a delivery or project deadline, set the start date to today and move the end date until Weekdays matches how many business days you need — public holidays in between still need to be subtracted by hand.

Frequently asked questions

How many business days are there in January 2026?

From Jan 1 (Thu) to Jan 31 (Sat), 2026 is 31 total days with 22 weekdays and 9 weekend days — enter those dates above to see the same breakdown for any range.

Does this calculator include the start and end date?

Yes, both endpoints are included (inclusive). If the start and end date are the same weekday, the result is 1 total day and 1 weekday; if they land on a weekend, it's 1 total day and 0 weekdays.

Does it subtract public holidays?

No — it only excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays (national or company-specific) aren't in the calculation, so subtract them manually if you need an official working-day count.

What happens if the end date is before the start date?

The calculator doesn't compute a result for that order — enter the earlier date as the start date and the later one as the end date.

What's the difference between total days and weekdays here?

Total days counts every calendar day in the range; weekdays counts only Monday–Friday within it. Weekend days is the remainder — total days minus weekdays.
