Why kgf/cm² still shows up on placards

kgf/cm² (kilogram-force per square centimeter) was the standard pressure unit in many countries before kPa and psi became common, and it still appears on older gauges and some manufacturers' spec sheets — 1 kgf/cm² is fixed at exactly 98.0665 kPa by definition (based on standard gravity), so the conversion never drifts.

Measure cold. Always check pressure when the tires are cold — meaning the car has been parked for at least 3 hours, or driven less than about 1.6 km. Driving heats the air inside the tire and raises the reading by several psi, so a warm reading understates how much air you actually need to add.
