A cylindrical tank's volume is the area of its circular cross-section times its height. Converting that volume from cubic centimeters gives the capacity in liters and cubic meters.

Why diameter, not radius

Tank specs and tape measurements almost always give the diameter (the full width you can measure across the top), so this calculator takes diameter directly and halves it internally — no manual conversion needed.

Liters vs. cubic meters

1 liter equals 1,000 cm³, and 1 cubic meter equals 1,000 liters. Liters are the practical unit for water usage and delivery; cubic meters are what utility bills and larger tank specs usually quote.

Measuring tip. Measure the inside diameter and the inside height (or the water depth you actually want to fill) for the most accurate usable capacity — outer dimensions overstate it once wall thickness is factored in.
