How the smoking cost is calculated

Dividing the pack price by cigarettes per pack gives the price of a single cigarette. Multiplying that by how many you smoke a day, then by 365 days and the number of years, scales the cost from a single cigarette up to a full smoking period.

Why the standard pack is 20 cigarettes

Most packs sold in Korea and worldwide hold 20 cigarettes, which is why it's the default here — but some products come in 10-cigarette packs, so adjust the "Cigarettes per pack" field if yours differs; the per-cigarette price and every downstream number scale from that figure.

Half a pack a day adds up fast

At the defaults above — 10 cigarettes a day from a ₩4,500, 20-cigarette pack — the price per cigarette is ₩225, which comes to ₩2,250 a day. That's a small number daily, but multiplied by 365 days it becomes over ₩820,000 a year, and over ₩8 million across a decade of smoking at the same rate.

Practical tip. Try raising "Cigarettes per day" to your actual count on a heavier day and lowering "Years" to just how long you plan to keep smoking at that rate — the total-cost output changes fast, which is often the number that motivates cutting back.
